Teachers in Multicultural Education

The Center for Intercultural Psychology and Education launched a new MA program in September, 2009. The aim of the program is to train teachers to become experts in the field of multicultural education, and to help schools adapt to the changing social environment by employing teachers who have gained new perspectives and new knowledge in the course of their training.

The teacher training program in multicultural education provides knowledge and skills that help to replace monoculturalism with multi- and interculturalism. We hope that teachers trained in this way will participate actively in reform processes aimed at altering school cultures and the social environment of schools, in order to reduce differences in educational opportunities and to create better conditions for members of all social, ethnic, cultural or gender groups for higher achievement at school and for a successful career.
